ABOUT THIS PLACE

Gate House, a unique two-storey dwelling designed by internationally celebrated architect Brian MacKay-Lyons, is located near the entryway to Shobac Farm. Its Corten steel exterior projects a modern feel over the pastoral and architectural landscape, where Shobac Farm meets the LaHave Estuary. Accommodating up to 5 guests, Gate House is a cozy, fully equipped cottage providing a comfortable, relaxing and unique getaway for solo travelers, couples and small groups.

The new SHOBAC SPA offers guests a place on site to restore both body and mind. Amenities include an indoor lap pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and an outdoor hot tub on a communal area.

THE SPACE

The second level features one large bedroom with two queen beds, flat screen TV, south-facing views overlooking the Troop Barn, pastoral landscape and Hirtle’s Beach in the distance, as well as a full bathroom. The ground level features fully equipped galley kitchen, open living area with leather furniture, an extra sleeping nook, a STUV woodstove and a wide 24’ north-facing window overlooking the pastoral valley and grazing sheep. Interior steel elements connect with the exterior cladding to create a seamless inside-out transition, and the furnishings are an eclectic mix of new and old to reflect the modern and traditional dual personality of Gate House.

GUEST ACCESS

Gate House is a private two-storey cottage near the entryway to Shobac Farm and the secluded ‘Lost Village at the End of the Earth’, where the LaHave Estuary meets the Atlantic Ocean and Hirtle’s Beach. Guests have access to the 1.5-acre Shobac Farm site featuring many outdoor activities and shared amenities surrounded by rolling pastures, hiking trails, a few private homes and the Atlantic Ocean. Parking onsite is provided for guests.

Amenities include:

• The Shobac Spa - an indoor lap pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and an outdoor hot tub on a communal area.

• The ‘Sky-Room’ - a restored centuries-old building foundation transformed into an outdoor dining and lounge area, and more.

• Large, in-ground trampoline

• Bonfire area - in the front courtyard facing the water

• The Fire-Pit - surrounded by a saltwater lake at the end of ‘The Point’.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

All cabins are equipped with WiFi internet. Guests may use shared laundry facilities. An outdoor BBQ is available for cabin guests to use. Firewood, for the pit and the interior woodstove, is provided. For outdoor sports enthusiasts, a storage area can be provided for surf boards, bicycles, etc. Shobac Farm Wool Blankets and Butcher Cuts can be purchased onsite.
