ABOUT THIS PLACE

Gaff Cottage, designed by internationally-celebrated architect Brian MacKay-Lyons is southernmost of the Shobac Cabins, overlooking Hirtle’s Beach & Gaff Point. Accommodating 4-5 guests, Hirtle’s Cottage is a fully winterized cabin, providing a relaxing and unique getaway for couples/families year round.

The new SHOBAC SPA offers guests a place on site to restore both body and mind. Amenities include an indoor lap pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and an outdoor hot tub on a communal area.

THE SPACE

The second-level open loft features a double bed with full ensuite bathroom, flat screen TV, private deck overlooking the sheep pasture, and stunning seaside architectural views. The main level features a closed bedroom with two single beds, full bathroom, newly renovated kitchen with European appliances, living area with contemporary furniture and wood stove, an extra sleeping nook, and unique architectural details. Designed to optimize passive heating and cooling systems, windows and doors are thoughtfully planned for guests’ comfort. The private southwest-facing deck is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the fresh seaside air, sipping your morning coffee, sharing afternoon snacks, and basking in the evening light as the sun sets over the LaHave Estuary.

GUEST ACCESS

Hirtle’s Cottage, the first of four Seaside family cabins, lies within a secluded ‘Lost Village at the End of the Earth’ where the LaHave Estuary meets the Atlantic Ocean and Hirtle’s Beach. Guests have access to the 1.5-acre Shobac Farm site featuring many outdoor activities and shared amenities surrounded by rolling pastures, hiking trails, a few private homes and the Atlantic Ocean. Parking onsite is provided for guests.

Amenities include:

• The Shobac Spa - an indoor lap pool, sauna, steam room, gym, and an outdoor hot tub on a communal area.

• The ‘Sky-Room’ - a restored centuries-old building foundation transformed into an outdoor dining and lounge area, and more.

• Large, in-ground trampoline

• Bonfire area - in the front courtyard facing the water

• The Fire-Pit - surrounded by a saltwater lake at the end of ‘The Point’.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

All cabins are equipped with WiFi internet. Guests may use shared laundry facilities. An outdoor BBQ is available for cabin guests to use. Firewood, for the pit and the interior woodstove, is provided. For outdoor sports enthusiasts, a storage area can be provided for surf boards, bicycles, etc. Shobac Farm Wool Blankets and Butcher Cuts can be purchased onsite.
