ABOUT THIS PLACE
Two features of Maynard Place make it super unique - its central location and its unique design. It is situated in a vibrant yet peaceful, culturally diverse area of Halifax. A short walk takes you to up-scale restaurants, music venues, bars, cafes, bakeries, and corner stores. Also accessible on foot are the historic waterfront, shopping districts, Dalhousie University, Citadel Hill, main hospitals, outdoor skating oval, museums, sporting venues, convention centres. Public transit stop is down the street.
THE SPACE
The design of Maynard Place, and the four adjacent townhouses, by celebrated architect Brian MacKay-Lyons, was awarded the Governor General of Canada Medal of Excellence in Architecture. Maynard Place is an excellent example of ‘adaptive reuse’: from an autobody shop to an architectural office to the residence it is today. On the main level, the living and dining areas are open and flexible spaces, with natural light beaming in through two big ‘garage-door’ windows. The furniture is modern and comfortable, including a day-bed that can concert into a single sleeping bed. On the upper level is the bedroom with an ensuite half bath,  queen-sized Tempurpedic bed, and an entry to an outdoor communal deck, shared with very nice and respectful neighbours.
